Four Yellowjackets from the University of Rochester women's swimming & diving program: senior Morgan Edstrom, juniors Sophia Dmytruk and Julia Sides and sophomore Amelia Hardiman were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Swimming & Diving Team, as announced by the CSC on Tuesday.

The 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® Women's Swimming & Diving Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 75 percent of an institution's competitions, or must have finished in the top eight at a conference meet, or must have participated in a national championship.

Edstrom competed in nine meets for the Yellowjackets this season, swimming the freestyle events and on Rochester's relays. The Littleton, CO native was a triple-winner in the 'Jackets tri-meet against Alfred and Fredonia, took home first place in the 100-yard freestyle at the Ithaca College Bombers Invitational and helped URochester win both the 200-yard freestyle and medley relays in their dual meet against Ithaca. While at the University Athletic Association Championships, Edstrom swam in seven different events, including three 'A' relays, helping the 'Jackets' 800 medley relay set a new school record, and swimming a season-best time in the 200 freestyle.

A mechanical engineering major with a minor in aerospace engineering, Edstrom is a three-time UAA All-Academic selection and a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team member. Previously, Edstrom worked as a Systems Engineering Intern at the Denver International Airport, developing a dashboard to monitor energy performance and researching sustainable energy alternatives. Following her graduation this spring, Edstrom plans on going to graduate school to study aerospace engineering.

Appearing in eight meets, Dmytruk competed in the backstroke and butterfly events for URochester, as well as several relays. The junior notched several season-best marks at the Bomber Invitational in the  100-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke, and was a triple-winner in the 'Jackets dual-meet win over RIT on Jan. 17, winning both the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly, in addition to swimming on Rochester's 200-yard medley relay. At the UAA Championships, Dmytruk swam on both of UR's 'A' Medley Relays and set new personal-best leadoff times, and earned a spot in the 100 backstroke 'C' final, where she placed 22nd with a time of 58.95 seconds.

Out of the pool, Dmytruk is a chemical engineering major and a two-time UAA All-Academic selection. The junior has received both the Sustainability Scholarship and the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Award, and TAed for CHEM 131 and ChE 113. Additionally, Dmytruk has done extensive research work on campus with Professor Gang Fan on electrochemical and enzymatic polymerization and depolymerization, and at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics with Dr. Ken Marshall.

Sides was one of Rochester's top divers this season, qualifying for and wrapping up her season at the NCAA Diving Regional for the second-straight season. Sides finished ninth in the 3-meter at regionals, scoring 418.55 points, and 12th in the one-meter, tallying 372.70 points. While at the UAA Championships, Sides placed 13th on both the one and three-meter boards. Sides was also a double-winner in the 'Jackets tri-meet against Alfred and Fredonia on Nov. 8, and added wins in the three-meter against Brockport, Canisus and Siena, and RIT.

Off the diving boards, Sides is a biomedical engineering major with a minor in chemical engineering. The junior is a two-time UAA All-Academic selection, and currently serves as the President of the URochester Biomedical Engineering Society student chapter. Sides is also working towards becoming a Grand Challenges Scholar and received both the Patrick P. Lee Scholarship and the Dean's Scholarship. On campus, Sides conducts research in the Buckley Soft Tissue Biomechanics Lab under Dr. Mark Buckley, and the South Burlington, VT native has had the opportunity to present her research at the Biomedical Engineering Society national meetings in San Diego, CA. Additionally, Sides has volunteered with Engineering without Borders and the Grand Challenges Scholars Program.

Hardiman turned in a breakout campaign for the Yellowjackets as a sophomore, swimming in nine meets and ranking among Rochester's top swimmers in both the backstroke and individual medley events. The Pittsburgh, PA native was twice a triple-winner in Rochester's tri-meet against Alfred and Fredonia, as well as in URochester's dual meet against Ithaca, and a double-winner against Grove City. At the UAA Championships, Hardiman swam on a pair of 'A' relays, helping the 'Jackets' 800-medley relay set a new program record, while individually, the sophomore swam in the 'C' finals in both the 200 backstroke and 400 IM, setting a new school record in the 400 IM with her 4:34.03 time.

An applied mathematics and business major, Hardiman was named to the UAA All-Academic Team this past winter and was a recipient of the Suzanne J. O'Brien Book Award. Also a member of the Dean's List, Hardiman plans to work as an actuary intern with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield this summer, and completed a data science internship last summer with Nyla Technology Solutions. Additionally, the sophomore volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children with the Learn to Be Program.

Academic All-District selections will be evaluated by a sub-committee and advanced to the national, All-America ballot, to be voted on by CSC members within their respective divisions.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's swimming & diving honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
