Women 2-0 After Big Win

Rochester's women rolled to their second consecutive swimming and diving victory with a 164-161 victory over SUNY Brockport on the road Saturday.

The Yellowjackets took first place honors in 11 events (swam the last two as exhibitions) and had seven of the 11 races with the top two finishers.

Danielle Scherry was a double winner, taking first in the 1000 freestyle (11:17.23) and the 200 butterfly (2:25.85). Kathryn Monti, Kari Joyce, and Michelle Gruen won the opening 400 medley relay (with Kelly Fischer) in 4:20.76. Monti, Joyce, and Gruen also won individual events.

Monti won the 200 freestyle (2:06.82). Sara Tomaski was second (2;11.62). Gruen won the 200 IM (2:22.07). Joyce was first in the 500 freestyle (5:27.50) with Jill Endres second (5:53.10). Endres won the 50 freestyle with Erin Szajta second (0:27.60). Szajta won the 100 freestyle with Keika Campbell second (0:59.64).

Megan Miller had a pair of runnerup finishes. She was second in the 1000 (11:50.94) and second in the 200 butterfly (2:31.94).

Becky Fallon won the 200 backstroke (2:27.90). Fischer, who swam on the winning 400 medley to open the meet, swam the 200 breaststroke as an exhibition. She was clocked in 2:39.57. Mary Carol Karl was clocked in 2:42.04. They would have been 1-2 in scoring if it wasn't an exhibition.

The 400 free relay of Monti, Gruen, Szajta, and Joyce was timed in 3:55.27 on an exhibition basis.
