Joyce Is LL Swimmer of Meet!

Junior Kari Joyce, who set two Liberty League records and won three events overall, was named the Liberty League Women's Swimmer of the Meet.

Rochester finished second - narrowly - to Union College. The Yellowjackets compiled 668 points to Union's 710. Rochester was 87 points ahead of Hamilton.

Joyce set LL records in the 500 freestyle (5:14.31), the 200 freestyle (1:56.95), and won the 100 freestyle (0:54.16).

Rochester's other individual Liberty League champion was Danielle Scherry. She was first in the 1650 freestyle (18:15.37).

On Friday night, Joyce won the 500 in 5:14.31. Scherry was second (5:16.07) and Michele Gruen was third (5:17.73). Joyce was also second individually in the 50 freestyle (0:25.05).

She swam on the 400 medley relay which finished sixth in 4:19.02 (along with Kelly Fischer, Kathryn Monti, and Gruen.

On Saturday, Patricia McHale was third on the one meter board (336.05) and fourth on the three meter (333.50). Nancy Tremblay was third on the 3M board (334.25) and Shannon Kahabka was fifth (315.00).

Gruen was fourth in the 400 IM (4:54.96), second in the 1650 (18;24.64), and swam on the 400 free relay which finished fourth (3:45.07). The other relay swimmers were Kathryn Monti, Erin Szajta, and Joyce.

Monti was second in the 100 fly (1:03.35).
