Senior diver Patricia McHale provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships for the second time this season as the Yellowjackets went on to a 152-88 victory over visiting William Smith College at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Complex.
McHale recorded a score of 249.05 which betters the provisional score of 245. She met the provisional standard earlier this season in a victory at RIT.
In the one meter competition, she edged William Smith's Sarah Costanza who recorded a 243.85. Coming into the meet, Costanza had met the NCAA provisional standard in five of her six meets.
Costanza won the three meter board with a score of 261.30. McHale was second at 221.70.
For Rochester, Kari Joyce and Karen Gromer each won an individual event and swam on Rochester's winning 200 Medley Relay (1:59.29). Joyce won the 500 freestyle (5:22.72) while Gromer was first to the wall in the 100 butterfly (1:03.09).
William Smith's winners were Lynn Cutter in the 50 freestyle (0:26.56) and Charlotte McIntosh in the 100 backstroke (1:05.97).
Rochester won 9 of 13 individual events.
The other Yellowjacket winners were Megan Miller in the 1000 freestyle (11:39.11), Danielle Scherry in the 200 free (2:04.08), Keika Campbell in the 200 IM (2:25.57), Michele Gruen in the 100 free (0:56.90), and Mary Carol Karl in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.68).
Joyce swam the opening leg of the 200 medley. Kelly Fischer was second, Kathryn Monti third, and Gromer fourth. Monti, Gromer, and Joyce swam on the 200 free relay at the end of the meet - along with Jill Endres, on an exhibition basis. William Smith won the event in a time of 2:12.16. Rochester's A relay was clocked in 1:44.32.
The Yellowjackets close out the dual meet season on Saturday at 1 pm against Ithaca in the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center. It is a combined men's and women's meet.
