Women End 5th at UAAs

ATLANTA - The women's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at the University Athletic Association swimming and diving championships hosted by Emory University.

Danielle Scherry and Kari Joyce were top eight finishers in Friday's events. Rochester's 400 freestyle relay finished in fourth place.

Scherry was eighth in the 1,650 freestyle (17:51.03) and Michele Gruen was ninth (17:52.25). Megan Miller finished 15th in the distance event (18:57.70). Joyce was seventh in the 100 freestyle (0:53.90) and Kathryn Monti 16th (0:56.43).

In the 200 backstroke, Megan Savoury was 14th (2:18.79) and Mary Carol Karl was 16th (2:20.98). Kelly Fischer was 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.62).

Karen Gromer was ninth in the 200 butterfly (2:12.49) and Miller 16th (2:24.12). The 400 free relay (Monti, Gruen, Gromer, Joyce) was timed in 3:41.13.

On the three meter board, Nancy Tremblay was ninth (308.35) and Kara Nash was 10th (306.60).
