Spikers 0-3 at First VB Round Robin

Rochester was beaten by Case Western Reserve, Washington, and Brandeis in the UAA Volleyball Round Robin event over the weekend on campus.

The second round robin will be played at NYU in two weeks. In that competition, Rochester will take on Emory, NYU, Chicago, and Carnegie Mellon. Results from the round robin competition set the pairings for the UAA Championships. This year, the championships will be held at the University of Chicago on November 6-7.

On Saturday, Case defeated Rochester, 3-2 (26-24, 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 13-15). On Sunday, fourth-ranked Washington won, 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 21-25). Brandeis posted an immediate 3-0 win after that (16-25, 22-25, 16-25).

Over the course of the two days, Alma Guevara, Kelly Mulrey, and Sarah Kauper were Rochester's kill leaders. Guevara totaled 29 kills. Mulrey had 26, and Kauper had 23. She also led the way with seven blocks.

Lauren Bujnicki led in digs (42) and service aces (four). Guevara was second in digs (37) and aces (three). Mulrey had 33 digs, and Rachel Bender had 32 plus 87 assists.

Rochester is 12-10. Thursday's match vs. Fredonia has been cancelled. University officials will set up the Palestra for a series of discussions and shows over Meliora Weekend.
