Coming off one of its most successful seasons in history (14-2-3), the men's soccer team at the University of Rochester must replace veterans at each end of the field. The Yellowjackets shared the UAA title last year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Head coach
Chris Apple has a strong veterans' presence on defense and in midfield. He must replace his top two scorers and his goalkeeper.
Two seniors, two juniors and a sophomore could claim the majority of the playing time on the back line, led by senior All-Region and First Team All-UAA honoree Misha Carrel-Thomas. He could be paired with classmate Steve Gillmer, juniors Ryan Charcholla and Tom Sorrentino, and sophomore Alex Osuch.
In midfield, junior Jake Cargill is the top returning scorer (4-2-10) with one of those goals coming in OT in the NCAA Sweet 16 vs. Wesleyan University. Senior Jimmy Parrinello and juniors Scott Zorn and Max Eberhardt played in nearly all of Rochester's matches last year. All-Region and All-UAA midfielder Steve Welles (0-4-4) will certainly factor in midfield as well as sophomore Jake Seidlitz.
Up front, expect to see senior Chris Blivin who scored three goals a year ago, all of them gamewinners. Potential strike partners for Blivin include sophores Jake Findlay and Brian Knouse.
In goal, sophomores Scott Garfing and Joe Osborn will look to take over for graduating senior All-America Mike Peacock.
