UR earns second day split at UAAs

ROCHESTER, NY- The home Rochester fans were able to see the UR women's volleyball team earn a split in day two of round robin two Sunday afternoon.  The team beat Brandeis University and fell to Washington University.

In the first game, UR fell to the #2 ranked team in the country.  The Washington University (St. Louis) Bears (24-0, 6-0 UAA) defeated the Yellowjackets by a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-8).

UR was led by sophomore Savannah Benton and junior Alma Guevara who each had four kills.  Junior Lauren Bujnicki had 13 digs and junior Kelly Mulrey added seven.  Xiaoyi Li added 16 assists for the Yellowjackets.

In the second game of the day, UR defeated Brandeis 3-0 to finish UAA play with a 2-5 round robin record.  The Yellowjackets are 15-14 overall on the season.  The line score of the match was 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 in the home schools favor.

Junior Meghan Neff led the way with nine kills and two blocks.  Mulrey also chipped in six kills and 14 digs and four aces.  Li also had another productive game with 21 assists and 11 digs. Defensively, Benton had four total blocks.

This game was the final game for both teams in round robin play before seeds are determined for the UAA Championships being held at New York University November 4-5.
