'Jackets Upend 7th-Ranked Washington 2-0

ST. LOUIS - Rochester put together stellar defensive play and timely goalscoring to defeat seventh-ranked Washington University, 2-0, at Francis Field on Friday night.

It was the first home loss for the Bears in two years and their first loss in University Athletic Association play this season. Washington is 13-2-1 overall, 4-1 in the UAA. The Bears have 12 points in the standings. Rochester improved to 9-3-2 overall, 3-1-1 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets have 10 points and sit in second place, one point ahead of Case and Emory.

On Sunday, Rochester plays at Chicago (which defeated Case, 1-0) and Washington hosts Case. Emory hosts NYU, which lost in overtime at Carnegie Mellon, 2-1, on Friday.

The Yellowjacket defense limited Washington to five shots on goal (13 overall). Rochester goalkeeper Scott Garfing made five saves. Jonathan Jebson made three saves for the Bears.

Max Fan scored the opening goal for Rochester at 6:01 when he volleyed home a cross from a Jakob Seidlitz corner. Fan scored in overtime a year ago to beat the Bears at Fauver Stadium. Rochester doubled the lead at 56:13. Tom Sorrentino got to a throw in from Max Eberhardt and redirected it into the net.
