Karen Meess led the way by earning two NCAA provisional cuts and breaking three school records, as the Rochester women's swimming and diving team finished 7th at the UAA Swimming and Diving Championships held this past week at the Webster Aquatic Center.

Karen Meess put forth a strong effort for the Yellowjackets. Meess met the standard for an NCAA provisional cut, with a time of 58.09 in the 100 backstroke. She also earned a provisional NCAA cut in the 200 backstroke as well, as she swam that event in 2:05.73. Both times broke school records. Additionally, Meess broke a third school record, as she swam the 50 backstroke in 27.18. Incredibly, all three records that Meess broke (50 back, 100 back, 200 back) were previously held by current Rochester senior Val Atwood. The previous 50 backstroke record was 27.88, the previous 100 record was 58:64, while the previous 200 record was 2:07.03, with Atwood setting all three in 2009.

In diving action, junior Rachel deLahunta put together a solid performance. She finished fourth in the 3 meter diving preliminaries, with a score of 390.40. In the finals, she recorded a score of 394.85, which placed her third.

The Yellowjacket's relay teams also had success. The 200 yard freestyle relay team, made up of Atwood, Dayna Jacob, Cailee Caldwell and Emily Scott, finished with a time of 1:38.60, which was the 2nd fastest in Rochester swimming history.
