Yellowjackets Tie #6 NYU, 0-0

NEW YORK, NY- Facing their second nationally-ranked opponent in a week, the Yellowjackets battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes with sixth-ranked NYU.

Rochester's Alex Swanger and NYU's Kyle Green both had three shots to lead their respective team.  With 20:01 left in the first half Swanger received a cross on the left side, but was unable to capitalize on an open net.

NYU had the first chance to score in the second half on a cross by Green, but the attempt was just wide by Ryan Horch.  Soon after, Swanger would threaten again with a shot toward the upper left corner of the goal, however he was turned away by an impressive diving save by NYU goalie Jonas Poster.

With 19 seconds left in the first sudden death period, Rochester unleashed a counterattack when Max Eberhardt stroked a long ball down the center of the field and found Andrew Greenway. He touched it over Poster (who charged out of the net) and it lofted just wide of the left post.

The draw was NYU's first tie of the season. The Violets are 9-1-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the UAA. Rochester is 6-2-2 overall, 0-0-2 in the UAA (UR tied Brandeis, 1-1, last weekend).

Next weekend, Rochester heads for Pittsburgh to take on fourth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, followed by a Sunday trip to Emory in Atlanta.
