FREDONIA, N.Y. - Rochester lost a pair of matches at SUNY Fredonia on Saturday, one against the hosts, and one against one of the nation's top teams. The Yellowjackets lost, 3-0, to Susquehanna University (23-25, 11-25, 15-25). The Riverhawks have been among Others Receiving Votes in the Division III Poll conducted by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
In the second match of the day, Rochester lost to Fredonia, 3-0 (19-25, 22-25, 21-25). The kill leaders in this match were
Beth Ghyzel and
Tamera Shaw with six apiece.
Sonia McGaffigan had four kills.
Sara Apanavicius had four service aces and
Allie DeRubertis had two, plus 13 digs. Ghyzel contributed 10 digs and two aces.
Kaylin Williams had two total blocks. Shaw and McGaffigan had one block apiece.Â
Isabelle Miranda had 11 assists and
Renae Lapins had nine.
In the match vs. Susquehanna, Williams was the kill leader with six. Shaw had five and
Megan McHugh had four. Lapins registered nine assists while Miranda hgad eight. Apanavicius led the dig leaders with eight. Shaw and
Megan Hauer had four each.
The Yellowjackets return home on Wednesday to host RIT in the last regular season home match. It will be Senior Night to recognize the contributions of the graduating players. Ceremonies will be held before the start of the match (set for 6 pm).
