ATLANTA – Rochester dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions to NYU and Washington- St. Louis in the second University Athletic Association round robin on Sunday. This one was played at Emory University. The third round robin will be played at Case Western Reserve in two weeks. The finals are set for the University of Chicago on the first weekend of November.
Rochester lost to NYU, 25-19, 25-21, 25-14. The Yellowjackets lost to Washington, 25-14, 25-22, 25-16. UR is 8-13 overall, 0-5 in the UAA. NYU improved to 15-4 (2-2 UAA) with the win over Rochester. Washington stood at 13-6, 3-2 UAA when the Rochester match was finished.
Against NYU,
Beth Ghyzel was the kill leader with six. She also had nine digs.
Tamera Shaw had five kills as did
Allie DeRubertis.
Renae Lapins had 14 assists and four service aces.
Kiara Carrasquilla had three aces,
Sara Apanavicius dug 11 ballts.
In the Washington match, the individual kill leader was Shaw with six. Ghyzel had five. DeRubertis had eight digs and Apanavicius had 14. Lapins registered 17 assists and five digs.
Next Saturday, Rochester will play Fredonia State and Susquehanna at Fredonia. On October 16, the Yellowjackets will celebrate senior day with their final home match of the year – this one against RIT.
