HENRIETTA, N.Y. – Rochester won its third straight volleyball match by posting a 3-0 victory over SUNY Fredonia in the New York Regional Challenge being hosted by RIT. Rochester won two close matches, 25-20, 25-22, then posted a 25-11 victory over the Blue Devils in the third set. Earlier in the year, Fredonia defeated Rochester.

This win came less than 24 hours after Rochester won a five-set decision against Montclair University. The Yellowjacket win streak started with a 3-1 decision over Nazareth College on Senior Night for the Golden Flyers. Rochester stands at 11-18 (Fredonia is the same after the loss to UR). The Yellowjackets will play in the UAA Championship Tournament next weekend at the University of Chicago. The UAA Champion gets an automatic bid to the NCAAs.

Miranda had 20 assists.
Rochester had good balance.
Tamera Shaw had 10 kills.
Beth Ghyzel had eight,
Sonia McGaffigan and
Allie DeRubertis seven each.
Megan McHugh had four kills and
Isabelle Miranda had two. Rochester hit .297 as a team.

Renae Lapins and Miranda divided the playmaking. Miranda had 20 assists, Lapins had 19. She also dug four balls.

The dig leaders were
Sara Apanavicius with 17, DeRubertis with 10, Ghyzel and
Megan Hauer with eight. McHugh and McGaffigan had three apiece.

UR totaled nine blocks. McGaffigan and Ghyzel had two solos. McHugh had one solo and three block assists. Shaw had one of each and Miranda had two block assists. UR had four service aces – Apanavicius two, Hauer 1, Ghyzel 1.
