University of Rochester Tennis Assistant Coach
Margarita Kotok has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as the 2019 Division III Northeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Â
Kotok was one of four men's assistant coaches in Division III, one representing each region, to be selected.
Â
She just completed her second season with the Yellowjackets, after joining the program in 2017-18 following a four-year career playing at the University at Buffalo.
Â
Kotok and the Rochester men had a tremendous season on the court in 2018-19. UR's men's team finished with a 12-8 overall record and achieved a ranking in the NCAA Division III top-40 for nearly the entire spring semester. The Yellowjackets peaked at #32 nationally and also got as high as #11 in the northeast region.
Â
UR burst out to a 9-0 record in dual match competition to start the season, the second best in school history and longest since 1962-63. Rochester ended the season with three players earning All-UAA accolades in the University Athletic Association, including senior
Masaru Fujimaki who was Rochester's first 1st Team honoree since 2003-04.
Â
Kotok also aids the Rochester women's team in her current role. On the women's side, the Yellowjackets finished with a 6-10 record overall and had one All-UAA player, with senior
Camila Garcia earning 2nd Team accolades.
