GENESEO, NY – Rochester's four-match winning streak came to a halt at the hands of SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday evening, with the Yellowjackets falling 3-0 to the host Knights at Carl Schrader Gymnasium.
 
UR falls to 6-3 on the season, while Geneseo ups its mark to 4-3.
 
Geneseo came out firing in the opening set, leading to a 25-14 set win.  Rochester struggled hitting the ball in the opener, recording only five kills and five errors.  In the second, both teams had their best hitting performance of the night, UR hitting .207 and Geneseo .308, leading to a Knights 25-17 win.  In the third, Geneseo put it away with another strong win, posting a 25-18 score.
 
Rochester's Tamera Shaw led the way with seven kills in 16 attempts, hitting .250 on the evening.  Kate Korslund had four kills while four players, had two.
 
Beth Ghyzel and Sara Apanavicius each had nine digs.  Isabelle Miranda had nine assists.
 
Geneseo was led by Grace Cergol who had a match-high 15 kills.  Maddie McLaughlin hit .400 and ended with nine kills on 20 attempts.  Abby May added eight kills for the Knights who used 10 service aces to their advantage.
 
Grace Thomas added 39 assists, 4 kills and 9 digs, while Alexandra Frank led the Geneseo back line with 11 digs.
 
Rochester is back in action this weekend at the Brockport Invitational.  UR plays host Brockport on Friday night, before playing Ithaca and Hamilton on Saturday.
