WALTHAM, MA – Rochester finished the first UAA Round Robin with a 3-2 loss to Brandeis University on Sunday. The scores were 25-12, 13-25, 13-25, 25-18, 8-15. After the first round robin, UR is 0-3 in the UAA, 7-9 overall. Brandeis, which finished fifth at the UAA Championships last year (hosted by Rochester), is 1-2 UAA, 3-10 overall.
Beth Ghyzel finished with 10 kills, 10 digs, three service aces, and five assists. Rochester accumulated 17 aces through the five-setter.
Sonia McGaffigan had seven kills as did
Hope Havenhill.
Allie DeRubertis had six kills 13 digs, and four aces.
Sara Apanavicius had five aces, 20 digs, and six assists. Ranae Lapins had 17 assists and seven digs.

Rochester pulled away slowly in the fourth set to tie the match at 2-all. The Yellowjackets scored eight of the last 11 points to post the 25-18 victory. With a victory within reach. Ghyzel set a kill for Havenhill to notch the 24
th point and finished with win with a kill from a Lapins set.
