Senior golfer Declan Hickton closed his collegiate career in the best way possible, earning PING All-American honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
 
Hickton was selected as one of 48 golfers to earn All-America status, being named an Honorable Mention following a terrific campaign in 2020-21.
 
Overall, Hickton earns the 27th All-American honor in program history, dating back to 1983. A total of 17 individuals have combined to earn those 27 accolades. Hickton's All-American award is the first by a UR golfer since Jason Paek was named following the 2018 season.
 

This season, Hickton had a career year playing UR's abbreviated schedule during the spring. He competed in six events, was medalist three times and finished in the top-5 on five occasions. During the regular season, his win-loss record was a sparkling 134-4, a winning percentage of 97.1%.
 
The Pittsburgh, PA, native had a career-best scoring average of 73.09, which would have ranked second in school history had he met the minimum 12 round criteria. He also carded five rounds at or below par, leading the team, including shooting a career-best 69 at the St. John Fisher Midvale Invite on April 5.
 
Hickton was selected All-Region late last month by the GCAA and was also honored by the UAA and Liberty League as an All-Conference performer.
 
He was one of just six individuals not competing on participating teams that were selected to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in mid-May, becoming only the fourth individual in team history to qualify for NCAA's as an individual. At the national championship, Hickton shot rounds of 76 and 78 to finish in a tie for 86th place.
 
Joining Hickton on the All-America team are several golfers from conference opponents within the UAA and Liberty League. Three were selected from Carnegie Mellon, two from Emory and one from RPI.
