The awards continue to pile up for Alvin Su of the University of Rochester golf team who recently completed his sophomore season with the Yellowjackets.
 
On Wednesday, Su was named the 2026 recipient of the Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award presented by FlightScope, in partnership with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This award is presented to five outstanding collegiate golfers from outside the United States, one each for NCAA Division's I, II and III, as well as the NAIA and NJCAA. Su is the Division III recipient.
 
The Gary Player International Golfer of the Year award is in its third year of existence, and Su becomes the first University of Rochester player to earn the honor. Justin Chan of UAA-rival Carnegie Mellon was the Gary Player recipient in both 2024 and 2025 for Division III. Su also is the first player from China across all divisions to receive the award in the three years it has been selected.
 
This season, Su was named a Third Team GCAA All-American, his second straight All-America honor. In addition, the sophomore was the top player in Region II and was chosen as the Liberty League Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Additionally, he was an All-UAA honoree and also received academic honors from the Liberty League, being named Academic All-Conference.
 
Statistically, the Beijing, China native had one of the best seasons in program history, setting a new program-record with a 71.38 scoring average across 21 total stroke play rounds. That total featured 13 rounds at or below par, with a low round of 66.
 
Su finished in the top-10 four times and secured three event wins, coming at the Northeast Elite Invitational (9-under), Fred Kravetz Invitational (3-under) and Liberty League Championship (8-under). His efforts helped URochester claim the conference title for the third year in a row and end in 18th place at the NCAA Division III Championship.

The other honorees for the Gary Player Award in 2026 are Christiaan Maas (South Africa) of Texas in Division I, Octavio Laurent (France) of USCB in Division II, Iver Sokhan-Sanj (Norway) of Keiser in the NAIA, and Abe Bignell (England) of McLennan in NJCAA.
