BATAVIA, OH – No. 17 University of Rochester men's golf fell to the New York University Violets, 5-1, in their final match of the 2026 University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday morning at Elks Run Golf Club.
 
With the defeat, the Yellowjackets will finish in fourth place out of the four competing teams and head into their regular season schedule next week.
 
Galen Fowles was Rochester's lone winner against the Violets, taking his match against Tanmay Chandra, 5&4. After a tie two holes in, Fowles led for the rest of the match, using birdies on the first, third and fourth holes to build a six-stroke lead, before wrapping up the match with another birdie on the par-four ninth hole.
 
Fowles sat at two-under through 14 holes, having notched four birdies and two bogeys in his match against Chandra.
 
Arjun Aujla was Rochester's next-closest finisher, falling to NYU's Jomyuth Luangtana-Anan, one down. Aujla and Luangtana-Anan were tied for the first five holes before Aujla briefly went up a stroke; however, a bogey on the first hole tied things up again, while two birdies over the next four holes by Luangtana-Anan gave the Violets' senior a lead he'd never relinquish.
 
Overall, Aujla sank a pair of birdies and finished the 18 holes at one-over on the par-71 course.
 
Three Yellowjackets, Anderson Palm, Haden Wang and Tommy Wang, all fell to their respective NYU counterparts, 2&1, while Henry Zhong dropped his match against Bo Dong, 4&2.
 
Palm sank a trio of birdies over 17 holes, leading early against Ryan Zhao before back-to-back bogeys allowed Zhao to tie things up. Zhao surged ahead with a pair of birdies on five and six, as Palm shot an even par over the 17 holes.
 
Both H. Wang and T. Wang also led their matches early, with H. Wang going two-up after Bryan Zhao hit bogeys on 17 and 18. However, Zhao sank a birdie on three to pull back within a stroke, and then used three birdies over the final seven holes to surge ahead.
 
T. Wang led NYU's Steven Liu by two strokes and then one till the final five holes, where Liu sank two birdies to eke out a two-stroke victory. T. Wang opened his match with his lone birdie of the day, while H. Wang's lone birdie came on the ninth hole.
 
Zhong birdied the par-three first hole in his 16-hole match, but saw a pair of double bogeys do him in against Dong on the 11th and 12th holes.
 
The Yellowjackets next will head to Williamsburg, VA, to compete at the NCAA Division III Preview at Kingsmill Resort, beginning next Monday, Sept. 21.
