Senior Josh Pethel and sophomore Galen Fowles, both members of the University of Rochester golf team, have earned Academic All-District® At-Large honors from the College Sports Communicators for the 2025-26 season, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

The 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 75 percent of an institution's days of competitions. The at-large category encompasses men's athletes in the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Pethel capped his collegiate golf career this season by appearing in six stroke play events and the UAA Match Play Championship for the Yellowjackets. He averaged 75.73 strokes per round and had four top-20 finishes in tournaments, including ranked second at the Jekyll Island Individual Invitational in late March. For his efforts, Pethel was named All-Region II by the GCAA, earning his first All-Region award of his career.

Away from golf, Pethel earned his degree from the University of Rochester in Finance, Economics and Accounting. He was a member of the Simon Accounting Society and received the Dean's Scholarship from the University. He was a TA during his time and also conducted independent research into corporate tax deductions for professor Tim Hungerford while also being a member of the UAA and Liberty League All-Academic Team. He has interned with PriceWaterhouseCoopers andDeJoy in the past and has accepted a position following graduation at PwC that will start in July. Pethel's volunteer efforts include serving as a program supervisor for ReMember and the First Tee of Western New York.

Fowles made great strides on the course for the Yellowjackets as a sophomore, ranking fourth on the team with a 75.38 scoring average, turning into All-Region II honors. He competed in nine events overall, including being in the lineup for URochester at the NCAA Division III Championship. The sophomore ignited the Yellowjacket come-from-behind victory at the Liberty League Championship, shooting a single-round program record with a 65 (7-under) on the third day, vaulting him into a tie for ninth overall, his best individual finish on the season. Overall, he had three top-20 results on the year.

Academically, Fowles earned UAA and Liberty League All-Academic accolades this season. On the River Campus, he is working towards a degree in Environmental Science. A Dean's list honoree, Fowles has spent time back home in Massachusetts as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Cathedral in the Night.

Academic All-District selections will be evaluated by a sub-committee and advanced to the national, All-America ballot, to be voted on by CSC members within their respective divisions.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's at-large honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
