A year after winning its second straight Liberty League crown, the University of Rochester baseball team has high hopes for its 2022 schedule which opens in early March and features 39 total contests.

The 2021 season was a banner year for Rochester, as the Yellowjackets finished 24-10 overall, captured the Liberty League regular season and tournament titles and earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

In 2022, head coach
Joe Reina, who earned is 400th career win last season, enters with an overall record 409-327-2 across 20 total seasons.

UR's season opens with a matchup against SUNY Cortland at home on March 2nd. The Red Dragons reached the NCAA Division III Championship series last season, ending in a tie for third place in the country.

The team follows with a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over spring break playing a total of 11 contests over eight days down south. Opponents on the trip include Pitt-Greensburg, Catholic, Kean, Cairn, Ursinus and Rivier.

Rochester returns north to a 3-game series over March 18-20 against local rival St. John Fisher. The Yellowjackets host the first and third games of the series at Towers Field. Later that week, a non-conference matchup against SUNY Brockport takes place.

Liberty League play begins on March 26 for Rochester, with UR traveling to Rensselaer on March 26th. The following weekend UR hosts Vassar for three games at Towers Field to complete the cross-division portion of the Liberty League schedule.

In 2022, league teams will play two weekends against non-division opponents before playing each of their four in-division opponents in three-game series'.

Division play starts up on April 9-10 against Clarkson on the road before two mid-week matchups against Hamilton and Oswego State on Tuesday and Wednesday of that week.

Just before the Easter holiday, Rochester hosts St. Lawrence for a three-game set on April 15-16.

Two SUNYAC rematches from earlier in the season are set for mid-week prior to a home-and-home league weekend against Ithaca on April 23-24. Rochester plays on the road at Ithaca on the opening day and hosts the Bombers in a doubleheader on the second day.

The regular season concludes with four games during the end of April and early May. A final non-conference matchup is set for April 26, before a league series with RIT that weekend. On April 30 the 'Jackets play on the road, while the teams head back to the River Campus on May 1.

This season, the postseason play shifts within the Liberty League. Each of the top four teams, based on division records, in both the East and West divisions play the inverse seed in an inter-divisional three-game series on May 7-8.

The four winners of those series' advance to the traditional double-elimination bracket the following weekend, May 12-14, to determine the league champion and NCAA automatic qualifier.
