WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Two University of Rochester runners completed their 2022 indoor track and field seasons with tenth place finishes at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the JDL Fastrack.

Juniors Gabe Lundy and Scott Sikorski both placed tenth in their respective events, narrowly missing out on spots in the finals on Saturday and the All-America accolades that come with that.

In the 400 meters, Lundy was tenth in the field of 19 finishers with a time of 49.62. He ended up winning his heat over individuals seeded fifth and tenth coming into the event. The junior himself was seeded 15th entering the event with a time of 49.29 seconds which was set at the Liberty League Championships two weeks ago.

Sikorski, Rochester's indoor record holder in the 800 meters, finished his preliminary race with a time of 1:53.03, ranking tenth among the 20 runners. The junior led his heat throughout the first two and a half laps, but was edged out late, placing fourth with his time. Sikorski ended up just .13 seconds off of the qualifying time for the finals, earned by Benjamin Steeves of WPI at 1:52.91.

The nationals appearance is the second for Sikorski this academic year, as he also represented the men's cross country team at NCAA's during the fall. Lundy qualified for outdoor nationals last year in the 400 meter hurdles while Sikorski also ran at the same meet in the 1500 meters.

Rochester's men have one other competitor at nationals this weekend, with first-year Cole Goodman competing in the triple jump on Saturday.
