PRINCETON, NJ – Junior
Scott Sikorski was the lone representative from the Rochester men's track and field team competing at the Princeton University Larry Ellis Invitational over the weekend and he did not disappoint, posting two top-10 NCAA marks and setting two new personal bests.
On Friday, Sikorski placed 19th of 46 finishers in a primarily Division I-laden field in the 1500 meters. His time was 3:46.84, which currently is the #2 time in Division III this season and now ranks as the second best time in Rochester school history.
The time was a huge personal-best for Sikorski, shaving over three seconds of his previous record which was 3:50.18, set at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships last season.
On Saturday, the junior ran the open 800 meters and finished third of 41 runners in a mostly Division I field yet again. His time was 1:52.32, the current #9 time in Division III and ranks Sikorski as third best in UR school history.
The 800 meter time was an outdoor personal best by over three seconds and an overall PR by .07 seconds, shaving a little bit of time off his indoor Liberty League title running time from earlier this season.
Sikorski has had a tremendous school year so far for the Yellowjackets, representing Rochester at the cross country NCAA Championships in the fall and earlier this spring he ran at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Sikorski, and Rochester, return to action next weekend at the SUNY Geneseo Triangular on April 23rd.
