Seventeen individuals, representing nine different University of Rochester athletic teams have been elected as some of the newest members of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society class of 2022.

Jarod Forer (men's track and field),
Adam Hopson (men's swimming and diving),
Juney Lee (field hockey),
Kudzai Mbinda (men's track and field),
Brian McKinsey (baseball),
Tommy Oddo (men's cross country/track and field),
Julianna Okoniewski (women's basketball),
Nicholas Petruzziello (football), Luke Polson (baseball),
Alex Pritchard (field hockey),
Emma Schechter (women's soccer),
Kailee Sowers (women's soccer),
Amanda Strenk (field hockey) and
Damon Yargeau (football).

A total of 114 seniors and 16 juniors make up the 2022 class of Phi Beta Kappa. Membership in this academic honor society is by invitation only. New members each spring are elected by current members of the Iota chapter, coming at the recommendation of the nomination committee.

Approximately ten percent of each graduating class is elected.

Students will be formally inducted next month on Thursday, May 12, at an initiation ceremony at the Larry and Cindy Block Alumni and Advancement Center.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society, dating back to its founding in 1776. The University's Phi Beta Kappa chapter, Iota of New York, was founded in 1887.
