PITTSFORD, NY – Several All-Atlantic Region qualifiers and a pair of school records highlighted the final regular season meet of the year for the Rochester women's track and field team on Sunday at the Nazareth ROC City Final Qualifier.
The Yellowjackets totaled ten AARTFC performances and added four marks to the top-50 times on the Division III performance list this season.
Junior
Susan Bansbach kept her remarkable season going on Sunday, running as a part of both of the Yellowjacket school records, one individually and one relay. She also earned the only event win of the day for Rochester, winning the 400 meters in 55.23 seconds. That time currently ranked #4 in Division III this season and breaks the UR record set by teammate
Madeline O'Connell earlier this year.
Bansbach and teammates
Kate Isaac,
Ashley Heffernan and O'Connell were second in the 4x100 meter relay, posting a new school record time of 47.31 seconds, good enough to rank 12th in Division III and shave over three-tenths of a second off the same groups previous school mark from earlier this season.
Heffernan also had a solid day, posting a new personal-best in the 100 meter hurdles, ranking fourth with her time of 14.77 seconds. That time was a regional qualifier and is inside the Division III top-50. Teammate
Eileen Bequette finished sixth in the same race, clocking in with a time of 15.52 seconds, another regional qualifier.
Bequette added two other AARTFC performances on Sunday, qualifying for regionals in the 400 meters (7th, 59.58 seconds) and the javelin (3rd, 35.10 meters).
Kristin Hardy was a third regional qualifier in the 400 meters for Rochester. She ended up in fourth place with a time of 57.43 seconds, good enough to sit at #40 on the NCAA Division III performance list.
In the field events,
Gillian Reeder was a double-qualifier for regionals, coming in the discus and the hammer. She was fourth in the discus with a throw of 37.32 meters and ninth in hammer with a toss of 43.67 meters.
Teammate
Cora Rose also was a regional qualifier in the discus, earning fifth place with her distance of 36.07 meters. Rose added a ninth place result in the triple jump, clearing 10.61 meters.
