Box Score 2 CLINTON, NY – Sophomore All-American
Josephine Libby earned two more match wins in singles and will play in the semifinals of the ITA Regional Championships on Sunday at Hamilton College.
Libby, the tournament's top seed earned back-to-back straight set victories over Taylor Crain of Ithaca and Nicole Ridenour of RPI to reach the final four of the bracket. The victory over Crain was 6-4, 6-3, with the quarterfinal match going to Libby by a 6-4, 6-4 score.
In Sunday's semifinals, Libby will lost a tough fought match to Ida Krause of NYU by a 6-4, 7-5 score. Krause wound up defeating teammate Dakota Fordham in the championship match in straight sets for the regional title.
Libby also paired with teammate
Sanjana Karnam in doubles and reached the quarterfinals after winning 8-6 over a Jensrud and Narayan of NYU. In the quarterfinals, the pair was defeated by a third-seeded combo from TCNJ 8-5.
UR also had a few players compete in the consolation brackets. Karnam earned an 8-5 victory into the consolation quarterfinals but was defeated 8-2 in her attempt to reach the semifinals.
Stephanie Kim and
Neha Dania were upended in their opening matches in the consolation bracket. In the consolation doubles event, Kim and
Jasmin Toor fell by an 8-4 score to be eliminated from the bracket.
