Men's Soccer Continues Lace Up 4 Cancer Tradition

9/27/2022 10:40:00 AM

Members of University of Rochester men's soccer team will continue the teams annual tradition of Lacing Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® tonight in a match with St. John Fisher University.

Rochester has been supporting the Go4TheGoal Foundation and Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer initiative since 2011 by designating one home game each year to wear gold shoelaces in an effort to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the Go4TheGoal Foundation is one of the leading organizations dedicated to this great cause.

Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® started in 2011 as an answer to requests from youth soccer teams in New Jersey that wanted to show their commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer. Today, teams across the country representing every sport from youth to professional have Laced Up in Go4theGoal's GOLD laces.

$4.00 from every pair of laces plus 100% of donations go back to helping kids with cancer and their families in the State the funds are raised.

"UR Men's Soccer is excited to support Go4theGoal and wear our gold laces during our St. John Fisher game," says UR Men's Head Coach Chris Apple. "Go4theGoal provides outstanding programming for children with cancer across the country and right here in Rochester. It is an honor for our team to support this meaningful cause and the fight against pediatric cancer."

The Rochester men's team has set up a direct donation page which fans can donate to the cause, with all donations going directly to Go4TheGoal and will stay in the Rochester area.

Through the Go4theGoal program, the men's soccer program at Rochester has combined to raise over $1,000 for local pediatric cancer health and research organizations.
