University of Rochester women's swimming and diving opened their 2023-24 season on Saturday afternoon with a home tri-meet against the NCAA Division I Canisius University Golden Griffins and the Siena College Saints at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center.

The 'Jackets fell to both of their opponents, with the Golden Griffins picking up a 173-120 win over UR, as well as a 177-111 win over the Siena, while the Saints earned a 198-101 win over Rochester.

First-year
Zuzu Bailey picked up the 'Jackets' lone individual win of the day, taking home first place in the three-meter dive. Bailey scored 229.72 to take first, with
Lizzie Budde coming in second with a score of 226.19.

In the one-meter dive, Budde took second for UR, with a 226.72 score, while Bailey tallied another top-three result, finishing third with 206.63 points.

Overall, the Yellowjackets tallied 13 top-three results, including Bailey's win and six second-place finishes.

Ariana Pasquella led Rochester with a pair of second-place finishes, touching the wall second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.03) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.45).
Gloria Ng finished just behind Pasquella in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing third with a 2:31.70 time, scoring a third-place result.

Rachele Bachmann also added two top-three results, scoring UR's highest finish in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 2:17.29, good for second, while adding a third-place result in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.49).

Deniz Yardimci finished ahead of Bachmann in the 100-yard butterfly, scoring a second-place finish with her 1:00.98 time.

Katherine Hegblom also added another third-place result to UR's tally, scoring a top-three finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:16.24.

Rochester's relay squads also added a pair of top-three results, in both the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Leah Tang, Ng, Yardimci and
Saffron Chiu combined to come in third in the 200-yard medley, clocking in at 1:52.27. While the pairing of
Alicia Albuquerque,
Marissa Carlson, Chiu and Yardimci clocked in at 1:42.89 in the 200-free relay, also good for third.

The Yellowjackets will next host SUNY Cortland for a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. inside the Speegle-Wilbraham Center.
