PITTSFORD, NY – The University of Rochester women's swimming and diving team had 12 individuals combine for 10 event wins in a 165-76 victory over Nazareth University on Friday evening at the Naz Swimming Pool.
Friday nights meet offered the Yellowjackets (2-3) to showcase their depth across some different events, with
Sophia Dmytruk,
Ariana Pasquella and
Alicia Albuquerque leading the way as multiple winners. Dmytruk won three times, with Pasquella and Albuquerque winning twice.
Other individuals posting event wins for Rochester were
Leah Tang,
Paige Lovelace,
Simone Lin,
Jessica Spahn,
Katherine Hegblom,
Rachele Bachmann Adele Hellstrom,
Gloria Ng and
Marissa Carlson.
Both of UR's relays earned wins to bookend the victory in style. To open, Tang, Pasquella, Dmytruk and Lovelace earned a time of 4:36.00 in the 400 meter medley relay. Finishing off the meet was the quartet of Pasquella, Carlson, Dmytruk and Albuquerque winning the 200 meter freestyle relay in 1:55.59.
Dmytruk's third win of the day came in the 100 meter backstroke, as she touched in 1:09.39.
The Yellowjackets picked up big points in the 200 meter IM and the 100 meter butterfly, with each event seeing Rochester place first, second and third. In the 200 IM, Hegblom was the winner in 2:34.16, followed by Ng (2:35.77) and Pasquella (2:36.53). During the 100 fly, Bachmann was first in 1:07.86, posting a four-second win over
Elana Greenberg (1:12.29).
Natalie Reinhart ended third in 1:14.34.
Ng earned her event win in the 100 meter breaststroke, clocking in with a time of 1:16.37. Tang followed in the runner-up position in 1:19.81. It was a similar finish for UR in the 400 meter freestyle, as Albuquerque was first in 4:44.68, and Simon Line placing second in 4:53.67.
Lin was first to the wall in the 800 meter freestyle earlier in the meet, finishing with a time of 9:58.21.
During the 50 meter freestyle,
Jessica Spahn won in 28.46 seconds, while in the 200 meter freestyle,
Izzy Stevenson was narrowly out-touched for the win, ending in second by just .02 seconds after hear time was 2:19.38.
Rochester's top diver on the day was
Lizzie Budde who finished in third on both boards. Budde scored 243.98 points on the 3-meter board, while ending with a 225.23 score on the 1-meter board.
UR is right back in action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Alfred University for a tri-meet with the host Saxons and Fredonia.
