Dmytruk, Pasquella Score Event Wins at #13 CWRU

CLEVELAND, OH – Sophia Dmytruk and Ariana Pasquella each tallied event wins, but the University of Rochester women's swimming and diving fell to the 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve University Spartans, 220-80, in a dual meet on Saturday at Veale Natatorium.
 
Pasquella was UR's lone double-winner, taking home first in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. The sophomore touched the wall in a season-best 1:07.67, more than a second ahead of the second-place finisher, to finish first in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Gloria Ng close behind in third at 1:09.39.
 
While in the 200-yard breaststroke, Pasquella clocked in at 2:25.75, another season-best time for the sophomore, while Ng jumped a spot to second place with her time of 2:30.05.
 
Dmytruk scored her win in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing first with a time of 1:01.08 to edge CWRU's Keilyn Smith by .03 seconds.
 
Elsewhere on the day, Deniz Yardimci got Rochester on the scoreboard with UR's first top-three result of the afternoon, coming in third in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:00.28.
 
After Pasquella earned UR's first individual win in the 100-yard breaststroke, Rachel Bachmann notched another top-three result in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing second with a time of 2:18.07.
 
The 'Jackets would add another top-three result in the 200-yard backstroke, with Leah Tang finishing third with her 2:14.41 time, another season-best, while Simone Lin finished third in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:30.39.
 
Rochester 200-yard freestyle relay team would wrap up the dual with another second-place tally, with UR's A-relay squad of Marissa Carlson, Jessica Spahn, Alicia Albuquerque and Tang touching the wall in 1:41.68.
 
Overall, UR tallied a trio of first-place results to go along with two second-place tallies and four third-place finishes.
 
The 'Jackets next head to Pittsford, NY for a dual meet against Nazareth University on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:00 p.m., before a tri-meet against Alfred and Fredonia, hosted by the Saxons, on Saturday, Nov. 11.
