UR Men Pile Up Solid Finishes At Nazareth Tune-Up

PITTSFORD, NY – Backed by 16 top-5 results and three wins, the University of Rochester men's track and field team heads into championship season on a high note after competing at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up on Friday evening at Nazareth College's Golisano Training Center.
 
Junior Mitch Lienert kept a remarkable indoor season going by winning both the 60 meters and 200 meters, while senior teammate Gabe Lundy took home the title in the 400 meters.
 
Overall, Rochester finished with 12 qualifying performances to the All-Atlantic Regional meet, and several others booked spots into the Liberty League Championships, set for next weekend at RIT.
 
Lienert finished first in the 60 meters with a time of 6.95 seconds, just .01 shy of his school record time. During the 200 meters, he led three UR top-5 runners with a 22.10 second time. Both times were regional qualifiers.
 
Lundy earned his win in the 400 meters with a 50.53 second run, qualifying for regionals. He added a fifth place result in the 200 meters in 22.97 seconds.
 
P.J. London finished third in the 60 meters (7.09 seconds, AAR qualifier) and fourth in the 200 meters (22.90 seconds).
 
Nolan Ragland had a huge personal-best distance in the weight throw, leading four top-6 finishers from Rochester. The junior qualified for regionals with a 16.32 meter toss. Jordan Johnson finished behind him in third at 15.53 meters, also earning a regional performance. James O'Neill was fourth (14.86 meters) and Joe Bumpus was sixth (14.53 meters).

O'Neill and Ragland also were top-6 finishers in the shot put. O'Neill was fourth with a 14.13 meter mark and qualified for regionals, with Ragland ending sixth with his 13.49 meter toss.
 
Kyle Lane used an indoor personal-best of 6.66 meters to finish third and book a regional qualifying spot, with teammate Manny Eribo ending seventh at 6.33 meters. Eribo also made the finals of the 60 meters, ranking eighth in 7.37 seconds.
 
Rochester's Griffin Weiner and Alec Glazier are headed to the regional meet in the 800 meters after their runs on Friday. Weiner finished fifth in 1:58.11 and Glazier was seventh in 1:58.49, setting a new personal-best. Skye Crocker ended one spot behind in eighth, clocking in with a 1:58.74 time.
 
Distance runner Nate Brunacini earned a runner-up finish in the 3000 meters, crossing the stripe in a regional time of 8:49.74.
 
Peter Brodnik ended fifth in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.67 seconds, also besting the regional qualifying standard.
 
Cody Reeth was the fourth Division III finisher in the pole vault, clearing 4.26 meters, leading the other top UR finishers. Cole Siewert ended fifth in the 1000 meters (3:05.11) with Gabe Thyne in the 400 meters (7th, 51.75 seconds) and Vishal Yalamanchili (8th, 4:25.95) also earning top-8 results for the Yellowjackets.
