HENRIETTA, NY – The University of Rochester men's track and field surged ahead of the competition on day two of the 2022-23 Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships to win their second-straight indoor title on Saturday at RIT's Gordon Field House.
The Rochester men joined the Yellowjacket women in taking home the conference title, UR's first Liberty League sweep in program history. Rochester, who trailed RPI by half a point following the first day of action in Henrietta, surged ahead of the Engineers to finish with 200.5 team points compared to just 168 for RPI.
It was another stellar day of action for the 'Jackets as they clinched their second-consecutive conference crown, breaking two school records, setting 12 new personal bests and tallying 13 regional-qualifying times. Three Yellowjackets also took home individual Liberty League titles and
Scott Sikorski, after winning both the mile and 800 meters, was named the Track Performer of the Meet.
Sikorski and
Cole Goodman both shattered their own program records, Sikorski in the 800 meters and Goodman in the triple jump. Sikorski paced UR in the 800m with his time of 1:51.77, setting a meet, facility, program and personal record, with a time that currently ranks third in NCAA Division III and qualifies for next weekend's All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships (AARTFC).
Brendan McCollum,
Daniel Ford and
Griffin Weiner all joined Sikorski on the podium in the 800 meters, with their fifth (1:55.88), sixth (1:56.60) and seventh-place (1:57.28) finishes, respectively. All three also hit the regional qualifying mark, while Wiener's finish was a new personal best.
In the triple jump, Goodman broke his own record by 0.09 meters, coming in first with a 14.84m jump, the sixth-best triple jump in NCAA Division III.
Sam Lorenzetti and
Kyle Lane joined Goodman on the podium with third (13.32m) and fifth-place (13.12m) finishes, further adding to UR's tally.
Aeden Angelone scored UR's third individual title, winning the heptathlon with a personal-best 4,813 score, currently the eighth-highest in Division III. After finishing second across all four events on Friday, Angelone won the 60-meter hurdles and 1,000 meters to help take home the heptathlon title.
Joining Angelone on the podium,
Gabe Thyne took home third-place with 4,131 points,

Peter Brodnik's time of 8.48 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for 2nd and an AARTFC qualifying time, was just 0.02 off the program record, set back in 1981. While
Mitch Lienert's second-place time of 6.98 in the 60 meters, was just 0.04 seconds off his own program record.
Lienert took home second place in the 60 meters, while
P.J. London scored a fifth-place finish at 7.06, both of which qualified for the AARTFC.
In the 3000 meters,
Alec Glazier set a new personal best with his 8:42.32 time, while

Wrapping up the track events, UR's 4x400 relay team of Lundy, Weiner,
Colin Hascup and Ford ran a 3:25.62 time, good for third.
In the field events,
Jordan Johnson set a new personal best with his 17.08m weight throw, good for second place, a regional qualifying throw and currently the 44th-longest weight throw in NCAA DIII.
Nolan Ragland joined Johnson on the podium with another AARTFC qualifier, finishing fifth with a throw of 16.27m.
In the high jump,
Aadit Jain led Rochester, tying for third with a personal best and AARTFC qualifying 1.94m jump, while Lorenzetti scored another regional qualifying jump, jumping 1.84m, good for sixth.
