GENESEO, NY –
Cole Goodman and
Gabe Lundy notched first-place finishes and All-Atlantic Regional qualifying times, as the University of Rochester men's track & field team wrapped up the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational, their first outdoor competition of the year, on Monday evening at the Geneseo Track & Field Complex.
Lundy scored first place in the 400m hurdles, while Goodman finished first in the long jump. As a team, five 'Jackets hit five AARTFC qualifying standards, seven recorded new personal bests and four finished with throws or times that currently rank in the Top 40 in NCAA Division III.
Lundy's first-place time of 54.23 in the 400m hurdles currently ranks in the Top 5 in DIII, while Goodman's long jump of 6.93m ranks In the Top 30.
John Moyer joined Lundy in the Top 5 of the 400m hurdles, running a personal best 57.38 time. Also finishing in the Top 10,
Sam Kellner clocked in at 1:00.31, good for 10th.
Elsewhere in day two's track events,
Manny Eribo led the Yellowjackets in the 100 meters with a personal best time of 11.30, good for 9th, while Lundy added another Top 20 finish, coming in 15th with a time of 11:40.
In the 400 meters,
Max Creamer and
Gabe Thyne finished 10th and 11th, respectively, with times of 51.27 and 51.36. While in the 200 meters, Creamer again paced Rochester, finishing 19th (23.68).
Eribo added another Top-10 finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.59m, a new pr.
Kyle Lane (6.52m) and Thyne (6.30m) also joined Eribo and Goodman in the Top 10, finishing 7th and 10th.
In the triple jump,
Sam Lorenzetti finished with a 13.58 mark that currently ranks among the Top 30 in Division III, and was good for second on the day. While in the high jump,
Aadit Jain finished sixth with a jump of 1.76m.
Jack Maness was UR's top finisher in the pole vault, coming in 9th at 3.70m.
In the hammer throw, both
Nolan Ragland (3rd, 51.50m) and
Jordan Johnson (4th, 48.51) recorded personal-best and regional-qualifying throws, but three more Yellowjackets rounded out the Top 15.
Joe Bumpus finished 10th with a 43.53m throw,
James O'Neill 11th at 42.84, and
Kevin Fobare came in 14th at 41.27m.
O'Neill then led the 'Jackets in the shot put, finishing 9th with a throw of 13.03m, while Ragland scored another personal best with a 13.02m throw, good for 10th. Three more 'Jackets again finishing in the Top 15, led by
Dylan Rykert (12.60, 12th).
Behind Rykert, Fobare came in 14th with a throw of 12.50m, and Bumpus scored a 15th-place finish with a personal-best 12.42m.
Next up is a split-squad weekend for the Yellowjackets, with the Duke University Invitational beginning on Friday, April 7 at 9:30 a.m., and the RIT Invitational on Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m.
