UTICA, NY – In a final tune-up before the championship season wraps up with the regional and national championships over the next two weeks, several University of Rochester men's track and field team members competed on Sunday afternoon at the Utica Pioneer Fast Chance Meet.
Ten individuals competed for the Yellowjackets, with three earning berths into the All-Atlantic Regional Championships to be contested later this week.
Senior
Gabe Lundy placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles and hit the AARTFC standard, running a time of 56.02 seconds.
UR's other two regional performances came in the hammer throw.
Jordan Johnson was fifth with a mark of 50.52 seconds. Teammate
Nolan Ragland ended sixth with a distance of 49.92 seconds. The Yellowjackets also had two others in the event, as
Joe Bumpus (46.81m) ranked 10th and
James O'Neill (46.77m) finished 11th.
Johnson earned Rochester's top finish of the day in the javelin, placing as the runner up with a throw of 50.13 meters.
In the discus event, O'Neill was fourth with a throw of 42.23 meters.
Aeden Angelone was 18th in the same event, tossing the discus 35.30 meters.
Also in the field, triple jumper
Kyle Lane was fifth with a distance of 13.35 meters, and Aadit Jane placed sixth in the high jump with his height of 1.86 meters.
Back on the track,
P.J. London wound up in fourth during the 200 meters with his time of 22.42 seconds. During the 400 meters,
Max Creamer finished in 10th, clocking in at 51.03 seconds.
It's a short turnaround for individuals that are headed to regionals, as the All-Atlantic Championships are set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.
