To close out the 2023 season, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced their Division III All-Americans for the outdoor track and field season.
 
Five individuals from the University of Rochester women's outdoor track and field team have gathered six total All-America awards, finishing off a remarkable 2022-23 year, which featured 12 total honorees encompassing the indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
Rochester's honorees this spring were seniors Susan Bansbach, Madeline O'Connell and Kristin Hardy, junior Kate Isaac and sophomore Megan Bell, all of whom garnered All-American accolades following the indoor season earlier in 2023.
 
All-Americans are based on finishes from the NCAA Division III Championships, which were held last weekend at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex at St. John Fisher University. Individuals or relays must end in the top-8 in their respective events to garner the recognition.
 
Bansbach earned two awards, bringing her career total to 11 for the Rochester track and field program, including five which are for performances outdoors. Hardy now has six career All-America honors, while O'Connell picks up her fifth career recognition from the USTFCCCA. Isaac and Bell now have two All-America medals to their name.
 
Five of the All-America acclaims came from Rochester's 4x400 meter relay squad which ended second nationally with a school record time of 3:41.17 in the event finals, closing out the meet on Saturday. The team of O'Connell, Bell, Hardy and Bansbach posted that time which now ranks tied for seventh all-time in Division III history and first in UR program history.
 
To earn her award, Isaac was a member of the relay squad that ran in the preliminary heats last Thursday. That group, led off by Isaac, and featured Bell, Hardy and Bansbach qualified for the finals with a time of 3:47.43.
 
Additionally, Bansbach was named an All-American for her efforts individually in the 400 meters. At the NCAA Championships, the senior finished seventh in a time of 56.58 seconds. It was the fifth time overall, and second straight time outdoors, that Bansbach had been named an All-American individually in the 400 meters.
 
At this year's NCAA meet, Rochester as a team accumulated ten points, ranking tied for 21st among 73 teams that scored a point at the competition. The six overall All-America awards ties the 2022 Yellowjackets for most ever in a single year in track and field.
 
Rochester as a program now has 35 All-Americans in women's outdoor track and field and is tied for sixth most among all varsity teams at UR.
