Roland Hired To Men's Hoops Coaching Staff

Ryan Roland has joined the University of Rochester men's basketball coaching staff, effective June 1, 2023.
 
Roland comes to the River Campus after coaching at SUNY Oswego for one season under former Rochester player Jason Leone '99.
 
In 2022-23, the Lakers finished the season 28-3 and ranked #5 in Division III, both of which were the best marks in school history. Oswego claimed the SUNYAC regular season and tournament title, reaching the NCAA Division III Tournament Elite 8 for the first time in program history.
 
The Syracuse, New York native was a 2020 graduate of Division II Le Moyne College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. He lettered for two seasons with the Dolphins in basketball after transferring from Mercyhurst University where he played two seasons of basketball.
 
Roland was Le Moyne team captain in 2019-20 and helped guide the Dolphins to the NCAA Division II Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
 
After graduation, Roland played professional basketball in Colombia, playing with Corsarios de Cartagena in the DPB (1st Division).
 
Roland's other coaching experiences include working as Hoop Roots AAU Coach for 17U, 16U and 15U teams and at various summer camps including Westhill High School, Le Moyne College and SUNY Oswego.
 
Scholastically, Roland played at Westhill High School where he was a member of the New York State Championship team in 2013-14 and 2014-15. He was named Central New York Player of the Year as a senior in 2015-16.
