Following a strong 2022-23 season in which he was the University of Rochester's top golfer nearly all year long, junior Kerry Wang was named a PING NCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-American in a release put out by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday.
 
Wang becomes the 28th All-American in UR golf history and is the first since Declan Hickton garnered the honor back in the 2021 season. Individually, Wang is the 19th individual to earn All-America plaudits at Rochester.
 
Already this spring, both the UAA and Liberty League honored Wang as All-Conference, with the junior earning First Team All-Liberty League and Second Team All-UAA honors. He added All-Region accolades as one of the top-15 players from the region and now brings in his first career All-America award.
 
In 2022-23, Wang had his best season so far in a Rochester uniform, competing in 22 rounds across nine tournaments for the Yellowjackets. He shaved nearly two strokes off his career scoring average, shooting 74.68 strokes per round.
 
The junior recorded four rounds of even-par or better during the year, finished in the top-5 in three different events and had a win-loss record of 503-206 (.709), leading the Yellowjackets.
 
His single-season scoring average total was eighth best in program history and helped contribute to Rochester team scoring average of 300.8 stokes per round, ranking as second best in team history.
 
Wang started out his season with a terrific runner-up finish at the St. John Fisher Invitational back in early September, ending with a season-best 36-hole score of 144. The rest of the fall, he finished tied for 19th at the Williams Fall Invitational, tied for 26th at the Skidmore Fall Invitational and tied for 52nd of 120 at the Golfweek Division III Invite, featuring some of the top teams in the country.
 
This spring, he ranked tied for 33rd at the Savannah Invitational, was t-61st against the toughest field of the year at the Jekyll Island Invitational and wrapped up his season with three terrific results in April. He finished tied for 16th at the Hershey Cup and posted back-to-back third place finishes at the Fred Kravetz Invitational and Liberty League Championship ending the year.
