6/5/2023 12:22:00 PM

Sophomore jumper Cole Goodman of the University of Rochester men's track and field team has been named Field Performer of the Year in the Liberty League, highlighting 18 individual award winners following the 2023 outdoor season.

Overall, those 18 individuals accounted for 24 All-League awards, showcasing the teams depth. Those honors were earned by finishing among the top-3 at the Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this season. The meet took place at Rochester in early May, with the Yellowjackets as a team ending up in second place.

Conference event champions are named First Team All-League, second place finishers earn Second Team All-Conference and third place results garner Honorable Mention awards for individuals and relays.

This outdoor season, Goodman captured two All-America honors at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing third in the long jump (7.34m) and fifth (15.24m) in the triple jump. The sophomore set new school records in both horizontal jumps this year, posting a mark of 7.39m in the long jump and 15.25m in the triple jump. His finishes at NCAA's helped UR place tied for 18th in the final team standings, the program's best result since the early 1980's.

Goodman was co-Field Performer of the Meet at the Liberty League Championships after earning wins in both the long and triple jump, earning First Team All-League accolades in both events. He ended the regular season ranked #4 in the triple jump and #13 in the long jump on the Division III TFRRS list. The sophomore also was a 3-time Liberty League Field Performer of the Week during the outdoor campaign.

For his career, Goodman is now a 2-time Field Performer of the Year in the conference, also earning the honor indoors this past season. He was named conference Rookie of the Year in 2021-22 indoors.
