USTFCCCA Honors Seven Individuals, Men’s Track & Field Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Seven from the University of Rochester men's track & field team were named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Athletes, while the men's program also earned All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Thursday.
 
Graduate student Luke Lyons, seniors Mitch Lienert, Gabe Lundy, Alex Opsahl, Scott Sikorski and juniors Aeden Angelone and Max Creamer earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for their efforts both on the track and in the classroom.
 
Angelone, Lundy, Opsahl and Sikorski are all repeat honorees, while Lyons also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors as an undergrad at RPI. Lundy earns his fourth USTFCCCA All-Academic honor in as many years, while Opsahl and Sikorski each take home their third.
 
Indoors, Sikorski ranked in the top 50 on TFRRS in 800 meters, 3,000 meters and mile, Lienert ranked in the top 50 in the 200 meters, and Angelone finished in the top 50 of the heptathlon.
 
Outdoors, both Angelone and Opsahl earned top-50 status in the decathlon, Lundy in the 400-meter hurdles, Lyons in the 400 meters and Sikorski in the 800 and 1,500 meters. While UR's outdoor 4x400 relay of Lienert, Lundy, Creamer and Lyons scored a top-35 ranking.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester and must either rank in the Top 50 individually in their respective event, or in the Top 35 of a relay.
 
Programs earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for having a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Rochester men's track & field team had a 3.54 Team GPA, earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
