FREDONIA, NY – The University of Rochester men's cross-country team ran to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships, hosted by SUNY Fredonia on Saturday afternoon. The top finisher for the Yellowjackets was senior
Vishal Yalamanchili, who finished in 23rd place with a time of 26:00.2.
The regional champion was NYU, followed by SUNY Geneseo in second place and SUNY Brockport finishing in third place.
UR left the regional competition with individual recognition with, Yalamanchili and first-year
Joe Berry receiving All-Region honors.
Berry crossed the finish line with a time of 26:32.0 and a 34th-place finish, followed closely behind by fellow first-year
Liam Sakakeeny, who ran to a 26:37.5 time and a 36th-place finish.
Following behind the first-year duo was junior
Nolan Goldthwaite, who completed the course in 26:58.0 and a 50th-place overall finish.
Rounding out the race for Rochester were two seniors, Jon Sullo and
Andy Freeman, who crossed the finish line in 63rd and 70th place with times of 27:22.8 and 27:30.6.
Rochester will now await potential bids to the NCAA III Championship next Saturday, November 23rd
, at 11:00 am in Terre Haute, IN.
