ATTLEBORO, MA – The University of Rochester men's cross-country team finished in seventh place overall at the 2024 UAA cross country championship meet. This meet consisted of four of the top 30 nationally-ranked teams in Division III.
The team championship was awarded to NYU with a team score of 34, followed by Carnegie Mellon with a team score of 50 and WashU with a score of 72.
Rochester completed the competition with a team score of 192 and a seventh-place finish overall.
Senior
James Catania had a brilliant performance with a 14th-place finish and a time of 24:48.0 to secure him the final spot on the All-UAA Second Team.
Finishing next for UR was senior
Vishal Yalamanchili, who finished in 40th place and a time of 25:45.3.
The first-year duo of
Joe Berry and
Liam Sakakeeny turned in 51st and 53rd place, scoring UAA All-Rookie team honors as two of the top seven men's rookie finishers. Their times were 25:58.6 and 26:01.3.
Next for UR was senior
Andy Freeman who finished 63rd with a time of 26:32.
Finishing in 68th and 69th place was first-year
Sam Cohen and senior Jon Sullo with times of 26:46.7 and 26:49.8.
The Yellowjackets will compete next on November 16, 2024 at the NCAA Niagara Regional meet in Fredonia, NY.
