The University of Rochester men's basketball team had four players earn recognition from the University Athletic Association on Tuesday following voting done by the conference coaches.
 
First-year Malachi Moore was elected the UAA Rookie of the Year, junior Logan Jadogzinski and senior Matt Wiele were picked as Second Team All-Association, with sophomore Tomiwa Adetosoye being an Honorable Mention All-UAA choice. All four honorees finished the year as within Rochester's top-five scorers on the hardwood.
 
Moore's Rookie of the Year honor is the fifth in team history and the first under head coach Luke Flockerzi. UR now boasts 118 All-Conference performers in men's basketball dating back to the league's inception in the late 1980's.
 
Overall, in 2023-24, the Yellowjackets finished with a 10-15 record, while ending with a 4-10 mark in UAA play. UR had a knack for the close games this season, with 15 of the 25 games being decided by single-digits, including 11 of the team's 14 conference games.
 
Rookie of the Year:
Malachi Moore (FY, G, Amityville, NY/Copiague) – 1st All-UAA honor; The first-year appeared in 24 games for the Yellowjackets, finishing with a 7.1 points per game scoring average while pulling down 3.6 rebounds per contest. Moore added 17 3-point field goals shot 71% (31-44) from the free throw line and dished out 14 assists. The rookie made his mark in UAA play, averaging over 7.9 points per game, ranking first among conference first-year players. He also sat second in rebounding among rookies at 3.1 rebounds per game in UAA contests. Moore's top game in 2023-24 was in a road overtime loss at nationally-ranked WashU when he poured in 19 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer with under 30 seconds remaining, sending the contest into the extra session. Additionally, Moore posted an 18-point effort against nationally-ranked NYU in late January and scored 14 points in UR's home win over Chicago on Feb. 9.
 
2nd Team:
Logan Jagodzinski (JR, F, Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) – 1st All-UAA honor; Enjoyed a terrific season as a regular starter with the Yellowjackets, appearing in all 25 games and leading the team with 24 starts. Averaged 14.1 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game while contributing a 44.0% field goal percentage, 40.2% 3-point percentage and 69.7% free throw mark. The junior added 33 assists, 25 steals and 17 blocks on the year. Recorded four double-doubles and poured in a career-high 28 points in Rochester's win over RIT on December 31. Ended up leading UR in scoring, rebounding, field goals made, 3-pointers made and minutes played. The junior also ranked in the top 10 in the UAA in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.
 
Matt Wiele (SR, G, West Harrison, NY/Hackley) – 2nd All-UAA honor (2022-23 HM); The senior proved to be an integral piece to the Yellowjackets team, both offensively and defensively, combining to finish the season scoring 13.5 points per game while adding 6.2 rebounds per game. He led the team by shooting 52.5% from the field and had a team-best 34 blocks, adding 28 steals, 21 3-pointers and a 68.0% free throw percentage mark. Wiele had two double-doubles, both coming against UAA opponents. The scoring, rebounding, 3-point shooting and block totals are all new career-highs for the senior. He also was second in the conference in field goal percentage, fourth in blocks and just outside the top 10 in scoring and rebounding.
 
Honorable Mention:
Tomiwa Adetosoye (SO, G, Alpharetta, GA/Chattahoochee) – 1st All-UAA honor; Broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore, making 23 starts across 25 appearances. Scored 10.4 points per game and added 4.5 rebounds per contest, while being UR's top assist-man at 3.0 assists per game. Shot 44.7% from the field, using his dribble penetration to consistently get to the hoop for buckets inside. Proved to be an asset defensively as well, securing 38 steals (team-high) and 12 blocked shots. He scored in double-figures in 11 games, with eight of those coming in UAA. Notched a career-high 25 points at #13 CWRU in mid-February and ended the season ranked second in the UAA in steals and sixth in assists.
