‘Jacket Women Roll to Dual-Meet Victory over Cortland

CORTLAND, NY - University of Rochester women's swimming & diving won its third straight to open the 2025-26 campaign, topping its dual meet against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, 206-93, on Saturday at Harriet Holsten Pool.
 
URochester won 15-of-16 events, rolling past the Red Dragons with 31 top-three finishes. Julianne Weaver was a triple winner for the Yellowjackets, topping the 100 and 200 freestyle, in addition to netting a first-place result as a member of UR's 200 freestyle relay, while Amelia Hardiman, Ally Mackey, Addison Powers and Kaela Springer were all double winners.
 
Weaver scored her first event win in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 2:01.23, while Morgan Edstrom (2nd, 2:01.46) and Olivia Dewar (3rd, 2:03.95) made it a clean sweep for URochester. Weaver later won the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.98, again leading a clean sweep as Adele Hellstrom and Sarah Leevan took second and third with times of 55.74 and 57.37.
 
The first-year notched her third win and helped Rochester wrap up the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay, combining with Hannah Gentile, Paige Lovelace and Edstrom for a first-place, 1:42.54 time, while Izzy Stevenson, Phoebe Hamblett, Katelyn Packer and Sophia Dmytruk clocked in with a 1:45.95 time, good for third.
 
Hardiman touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.18, and added another win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:28.62.
 
Powers joined Hardiman in the top three of the 100 backstroke with a second-place result and 1:02.85 time, while Edstrom and Rachel Ruminer rounded out the top-three finishers in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 5:34.54 and 5:35.51, respectively.
 
Powers' two event wins came in the 200 medley relay to open the dual, combining with Hamblet, Leevan and Hellstrom for a first-place time of 1:52.32, while the first-year also took the top spot in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 2:14.78.
 
Also in the 200 medley relay, UR's 'B' relay of Dmytruk, Gentile, Isabel Phillips and Lovelace took third place with a time of 1:57.10.
 
Mackey's wins came in the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly, where the first-year led a pair of URochester top-three finishes. Mackey won the 100 breaststroke with a 1:09.73 time, while Leevan took third with a time of 1:10.59.
 
In the 100 butterfly, Mackey touched the wall first with a time of 1:00.04, with Dmytruk right behind her in second, swimming to a 1:01.01 time.
 
Rochester's final double winner of the day came in the diving events, where Springer topped both the one and three-meter dives, notching a pair of NCAA Zones Qualifying scores in the process.
 
Springer opened her day with a first-place score of 262.50 in the one-meter, and then scored 275.40 in the three-meter. With her qualifying scores, Springer earned a spot at the 2026 NCAA Division III Diving Regional next spring.

Julia Sides also notched a qualifying score in the three-meter, her first of the year, coming in second behind Springer with a 268.35 score.
 
Elsewhere on the day, Packer, Rachele Bachmann, Hellstrom and Phillips each notched an event win for URochester, while Gentile was the 'Jackets' top finisher in the 200 breaststroke.
 
Packer won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:06.23, while Courtney Dietrich finished third, clocking in at 11:41.53.
 
Bachmann took first in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:18.19, while an event later, Hellstrom won the 50 freestyle (25.51), and Gentile took second (26.25).
 
Gentile was also URochester's top finisher in the 200 breaststroke with a second-place result (2:38.57), while Phillips and Caelan Clayton wrapped up the individual events with the 200 IM, placing first (2:19.98) and third (2:21.74), respectively.
 
The Yellowjackets will look to keep rolling when they visit Fredonia, NY for a dual meet against Fredonia State and Alfred University on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 a.m.
