University of Rochester football junior defensive back
Braydon Felsinger and men's squash first-year
Arjith Mathew received weekly honors from the Liberty League, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Felsinger was named the Liberty League Football Defensive Performer of the Week, while Mathew secured Men's Squash Rookie of the Week honors.
Felsinger had a monster day on defense for the Yellowjackets as Rochester nearly pulled off a big comeback against Hobart on Saturday. In URochester's 28-21 overtime loss, Felsinger finished with a career-high 14 tackles, including 8 solo, and had two turnovers to help the Yellowjackets' comeback.
The junior picked off a 4th-down pass and returned it 60 yards into the Hobart red zone and later provided a scoop-and-score fumble return touchdown of 26 yards to put Rochester on the scoreboard. Rochester as a team defensively held the Statesmen scoreless in the second half, helping the 'Jackets rally from 21-0 down at halftime to force overtime.
Mathew posted a 1-1 record, playing at #3 in his first collegiate action over the weekend. On Saturday against No. 6 Virginia, Mathew lost 3-0 to Dylan Moran, but closed the weekend strong with a victory in four games (11-5, 11-8, 11-13, 11-7) in Rochester's 6-3 win over the Big Red.
