FREDONIA, NY – The University of Rochester women's swimming and diving team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday, earning a tri-meet sweep over Alfred University and host Fredonia State at the Steele Hall Natatorium on Saturday.
Rochester (5-0) earned wins in every event, leading to a 244-48 win over Alfred and 250-30 triumph over Fredonia on the team scoreboard.
Eight Yellowjackets were multi-winners on the day, led by
Ariana Pasquella and
Morgan Edstrom who each won three events. Pasquella was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.25), 200 breaststroke (2:27.98) and 200 medley relay, while Edstrom was first in the 1000 freestyle (11:27.31), 100 freestyle (:56.05) and 200 freestyle relay.
Six others,
Amelia Hardiman (200 MR, 200 backstroke),
Addison Powers (200 MR, 100 butterfly),
Julianne Weaver (200 MR, 200 FR),
Ally Mackey (200 butterfly, 400 IM),
Sarah Leevan (50 free, 200 FR) and
Julia Sides were all double-winners.
Sides had a solid day on the diving boards, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Both her and teammate
Kaela Springer hit the NCAA Zone qualifying score on the 1-meter board, with Sides winning 263.85 to 256.95 for Springer, earning a 1-2 finish for Rochester. The duo also claimed first and second on the 3-meter board.
In the relay's the Yellowjacket teams earning the wins were Hardiman, Pasquella, Powers and Weaver in the 200 medley (1:52.15), while in the 200 freestyle relay,
Adele Hellstrom, Edstrom, Leevan and Weaver touched first in 1:42.37.
Not only did Rochester dominate in winning every event, the Yellowjackets claimed a 1-2 finish in 12 of the 14 non-relay races on the day.
Other individual winners for Rochester were
Sophia Dmytruk in the 100 backstroke (1:00.83) and
Katelyn Packer in the 500 freestyle (5:26.88).
