Rochester Rolls Past Hamilton on Senior Night

16th-ranked University of Rochester men's squash earned its fourth-straight win, defeating the Hamilton College Continentals, 8-1, on Thursday evening in its Senior Night matchup at the Lyman Squash Center.
 
Played a lineup with seven of nine seniors, the Yellowjackets made quick work of the Continentals, winning each of the first seven matches and eight of nine to move to 6-6 on the year, while Hamilton drops to 5-9 with the loss.
 
Omar Zakaria, Jake Koeppel and Nic Gill got the 'Jackets started with three wins right out of the gate, as all three swept their Continental opponents. Zakaria got UR on the scoreboard first with an 11-0, 11-1, 11-6 win over Hamilton's Atreyus Bhavsar at the No. 2 spot, while Koeppel finished shortly thereafter with an 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 victory over Simon Miller at the sixth spot on the ladder.
 
At No. 8, Gill rounded out the first three matchups with an 11-4, 11-9, 11-8 win over Jacob Stoffman, as UR rolled into the second round of action up 3-0.
 
Dhirren Rajarathinam quickly made it 4-0 with another sweep, downing Jacob Shulman at the No. 3 spot, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6, to set up Vandrick Inman-Benavente with the clincher at the seventh spot.
 
Inman Benavente clinched the win with another sweep, this one by scores of 11-6, 11-3, 11-3, over Carter Furmanek at the seventh spot on the ladder, while Arnav Mandhana finished off the second round of matches with a 3-1 win over Lucas Walden at the No. 5 spot: 5-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-8.
 
UR picked up another win at the No. 1 spot, where Yash Fadte topped Joey Applebaum in Rochester's sixth sweep of the evening: 11-2, 11-6, 11-7, while Hamilton scored its lone win in the at No. 9, as Tate Burgin topped Sam Knoll: 11-3, 11-1, 11-3.
 
The two squads wrapped up the evening at the No. 4 spot, where Tom Whiteley earned yet another sweep, downing Cooper Jessop in three games, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7, to finish off the 8-1 victory for UR.
 
Rochester next heads to Canton, NY for the 2025 Liberty League Men's Squash Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 8. As the top seed in the tournament, the 'Jackets earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 4-seeded Hobart and No. 5-seeded Denison in the semifinals on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
