JEKYLL ISLAND, GA – For the second-straight day, the University of Rochester men's golf team carded a team score of 268 (+8) on the second day of the Jekyll Island Invitational, at the Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
 
Following the second round of competition, the Yellowjackets sit tied for 14th with Hampden-Sydney College in the stacked field. 16 teams in the 30 team field entered ranked in the lastest Division III Top-25 Coaches poll, including Hampden-Sydney, who ranks 14th.
 
Through two rounds of competition, 3rd-ranked Sewanee and 5th-ranked Emory are tied in first place at two-under, with No. 11 Huntingdon at one-over rounding out the top-three teams.
 
Shibo Wang led the Yellowjackets on day two with a three-under, 69 card, shooting one-under on the back nine, before going two-under on the front nine. The Yellowjackets opened the day on the back-nine holes, before finishing the day on the front nine after starting on the course around 12:00 p.m.
 
Wang notched a pair of birdies on the back nine before tallying three on the front nine, and through two rounds, sits tied for 14th overall at an even par (144).
 
Alvin Su was Rochester's second-best finisher on day, carding a 72, even score on the day. Su shot three over on the back nine with a pair of birdies, but then shot three under on the front nine, notching three more birdies, to finish the day at an even par, and tied for 25th overall on the individual leaderboard at two-over-par.
 
Josh Pethel (+4) and Eddie Ren (+7) rounded out the Yellowjackets day two scorers, with Luke Evans (+12) being UR's non-counting scorer on day two. Pethel shot a pair of birdies, shooting one-over on the back nine and three-over on the front nine to card a three-over, 76 score, while Ren hit five-over on the back nine, and then two-over on the front nine to finish the day at 79, seven-over.
 
Individually, Pethel is tied for 86th on the leaderboard, while Ren is tied for 108th and Evans sits tied for 125th through two rounds of competition. Evans notched a birdie on the back nine, carding nine-hole rounds of five-over and seven-over.
 
The Yellowjackets will hit the course for the final round of competition of the Jekyll Island Invitational at the Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club beginning at 12:55 p.m.
