VERONA, NY – A chilly and wet afternoon at the Turning Stone Resort forced round two of the Liberty League Championships to be shortened to nine holes, with the University of Rochester golf team still sitting in first place with one final day of competition set for Sunday.
UR's team score on day two was 146, pushing its 27-hole total to 428 through Saturday's round. The Yellowjackets hold a four-stroke lead over Rensselaer on the team leaderboard. NYU sits third at 437, while Skidmore ranks fourth at 440 strokes. Rounding out the field are St. Lawrence (457), Clarkson (459) and Hobart (470).
Two Rochester golfers carded 1-under scores on day two, with first-year's
Alvin Su and
Eddie Ren both hitting that mark on the back nine holes at the Shenandoah Course at Turning Stone. Both Su and Ren recorded two birdies and one bogey on their rounds and are among several players in the field under par in the tournament so far.
Su is tied for second at 2-under through 27 holes, while Ren sits in a tie for seventh at 1-under.
Fellow first-year
Luke Evans is the solo leader through two rounds, shooting a 1-over par round of 37 on day two. He is 3-under in the tournament so far after opening with a 68 on Friday.
Both
Arjun Aujla and
Shibo Wang tied for the fourth counting Rochester score on Saturday, carding matching 39's over the nine holes. Aujla sits in a tie for 12th after day two, while Wang is tied for 19th.
Day three of the tournament is the final day on the course for the teams, with only 18 holes being played. Tee times begin at 11 am, with Rochester starting at 11:50 am.
