CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – University of Rochester senior Megan Bell bested nine other competitors in the 800 meters at the University of Virginia High Performance Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Lannigan Field.
 
Bell, the only Division III athlete in the competition, ran to first place in a time of 2:06.11, winning by over a full second ahead of the runner-up, Annie Jackson from Virginia.
 
The UR senior's time is the second best of her career, trailing only her 2:05.34 time set earlier this season at the William & Mary Colonial Relays. Bell has the top-2 times in Division III this season, leading on the performance list by nearly two seconds.
 
In addition to leading in the 800 meters, Bell also ranks highly in Division III this outdoor season in the 400 meters (fourth), 1500 meters (third) and 4x400 meter relay (13th).
 
Up next, Bell and the Yellowjackets will look to earn a conference title at the Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships next Friday and Saturday at RIT.
